    This has been the best and most enjoyable coaching video. Deadly serious and great fun. Richard’s stuff makes sense and I will be in touch. Pete was the best possible person to work with. Self-deprecation is his best and most admirable ability

    Peter, I think you hit the nail on the head with this video. Especially at the two minute mark you make the comment about “ the moment of truth on your serve” I have experienced an incredible improvement and then a very frustrating regression on my serve. I think all these various parts can sometimes overwhelm you and you can master all of them and yet when you try to bring it together hitches and mental things can prevent you from that moment of truth.

    I love how you call out what typically you see at the 3.0 and 3.5 level. I see this all the time and it is maddening that these girls just keep on doing it and the pros at my club don’t call it out.

    • @louisedyhlen3234
      @louisedyhlen3234 3 дня назад

      ofc it's possible, anything is possible: to give yourself the best chance you can have is to gain back really really good body flexibilty to make sure your body can move in all axes as freely as possible without any muscle strain.

    Learning a new stroke, is a combination of time on task and an absolute focus on the proper technique. I differentiate between playing tennis and working at tennis. Working at tennis is like taking hours of music lessons with a critical coach and not just hitting a lot of shots.

    You may be covering this later in the webinar, but practice must be dedicated practice, which means practice doing the stroke correctly. Other practice doesn't count. Dr A

    Isnt it essential to learn the flat ( modicum of topspin) groundstrokes first - the Sound Basic Swing - then topspin just follows on seemlessly ?

  • @CJZM7777
    @CJZM7777 9 дней назад

    Good video. The pivot move is integral to many sports. The next phase where you step in gives a bit more power potential. On the step, you can also think drive or step up and in. Watch video of Pancho Gonzalez or Rod Laver because they learned to serve when you had to keep one foot on the ground. The rule was changed around 1960 or 1961 to allow both feet to leave the ground and the modern serve followed. Servers from the 1950s and early 1960s stepped up and in to the contact point and hit over 100 mph with no problem. Gonzalez was a great server.

    Fun fact: if you average 6 seconds for one serve and film it, doing one serve a day would be a 48 minute montage after 365 days. Maybe 60 minutes if you factor in the pushups.

    I see near zero lob returns in B level (roughly 3.5 to low 4.0 level) and I often wonder why. I see more lob returns in ATP and WTA than rec tennis. And I play with a lot of senior guys who compete in open level age tournaments and they have great lob returns. The lob return is a great weapon. A good chip return can also work extremely well too.
